Ferrite Disc Magnet - 18mm x 5mm

Product Code 10066
Pull Force* 0.5 kg
Weight 6 gm
Style Ferrite disc magnet
Direction of Magnetisation Axially magnetised thru the 5mm

Magnetic Product Description:

This ferrite disc magnet has a diameter of 18mm and a thickness of 5mm. It has a magnetic flux reading of 1940 Gauss  and a pull force of 500 grams. It is identified by the AMF magnet part number 10066.

Uses for our ferrite disc magnets:

Magnets made using Ferrite material, sometimes referred to as "Ceramic" magnets, are often overlooked since the arrival of extremely powerful Neodymium magnets in the 1980s. But these unfashionable magnets have unique properties that made them the stalwart of many commercial and scientific advancements over many generations prior to the discovery of Neodymium (Rare Earth) material. Not least of the Ferrite Disc attributes is their affordability and this, combined with high coercivity and excellent resistance to corrosion, makes Ferrite magnets well suited to both low-tech domestic projects and highly advanced commercial enterprises. Ferrite is an inherently brittle material, but choosing discs with a thickness of 5mm or more can improve its resilience and alleviate this weakness to some extent. Careful selection of Ferrite magnet size and dimensions can deliver valuable cost savings while retaining more than adequate performance. It is not the case for all applications that more powerful magnets provide better performance. Magnetic hold often requires the bond to release at a specified threshold for both safety and convenience. Ferrite magnets can provide this function by employing a larger magnet, just as well as any other magnetic material and at a very attractive price point.
