Magnetic Product Description:

This neodymium magnetic block has a length of 10mm, width of 5mm and a height of 5mm. It has a magnetic flux reading of 6590 Gauss and a pull force of 2.7 kilos. It is identified by the AMF magnet part number B-W5H5L10-N45.

Uses for our rare earth block magnets:

This neat little Neodymium block magnet is also referred to as a square magnet due to its square profile. At double the length, relative to width, this magnet would also rightly be referenced as a bar magnet. Whatever you call it, these rare earth blocks are a handy solution to many common fastening, holding and attaching conundrums. The nature of the dimensions make it a cinch to use, as it is easy to calculate and incorporate into larger arrangements without the need to get the calculator out. Perfect for woodworkers and cabinet makers that are often working with standard thicknesses of wood or ply, allowing them to effortlessly slot this size into a recess or frame.

Neodymium magnets are a relatively new discovery and as such they are not as familiar to most people as is the case with more traditional types of permanent magnet like Ferrite or Alnico. Neodymium was first discovered in the mid 1980s meaning the majority of the workforce didn’t have the opportunity to learn the potential of these magnets during our general schooling. Its strength is approximately seven times that of other types of magnets in the same dimensions and it is available in various grades and surface coatings.

NB: Ranges are indicative for product category, please check individual products for specic values within that range.

The most common coating for Neodymium magnets is Nickel + Copper + Nickel (Ni + Cu + Ni). This coating offers the magnet relatively good protection from corrosion and passive applications. If the magnet will be exposed to moisture or liquid then consider the use of an organic coating such as Epoxy. A hard wearing coating, Epoxy is suited to applications where the magnet will come under some friction or knocking.

Magnets are readily available in Blocks, Discs, Cylinders & Rings. AMF Magnetics specializes in the supply of short-run prototype magnets including Arc Segments, various magnetic orientations etc. If you need a magnet size that we don't carry in stock, submit a Design-a-Magnet enquiry for a quote on your custom magnet design.

Neodymium magnets are offered in several different grades. The first section N30-54 has an operating temperature of up to 80 degrees. Most of our stock only goes up to N38. The second section, denoted with the "M" prefix after the grade has an operating temperature 100 degrees. After this the grades are "H", "SH", "UH" & "EH". In order for the magnet to withstand a higher operating temperature, during production more of the raw material PrNd is incorporated as these elements have a naturally occurring resistance to high temperatures.
