Neodymium Pot - Countersunk 16mm x 5mm
Product Code AMFYPA16
Pull Force* 5 kg
Weight 7 gm
Style Rare earth countersunk pot magnet
Coating Nickel (NiCuNi)
Direction of Magnetisation Axially magnetised thru the 5mm
*Measured against up to 10mm mild steel.

Magnetic Product Description:

This rare earth pot magnet has a diameter of 16mm, a countersunk hole diameter of 3.5mm and a thickness of 5mm. It has a pull force of 5kg and a weight of 7 grams. It is identified by the AMF magnet part number AMFYPA16.

Uses for our rare earth countersunk pot magnets:

These Neodymium Discs are referred to as "Pot" magnets because of the metal cap or casing that covers the upper pole surface of the magnet. This casing deflects the magnetic field back towards the base. or holding surface, and creates a stronger pull-force to this side only. This deflected field will be of a mostly Northerly orientation. As a result, two Pot magnets will, to a large extent, repel each other when the bases meet  For projects that need the magnets to attract, our specially matched  North/South pairs are recommended. The countersunk hole in this particular disc allows it to be attached in the appropriate place via a flat-head screw. It can be screwed onto wood, plastic or any other non-metallic material so it becomes able to attract and hold metal objects. Screwed onto a wall, for instance, metal tools, parts or other metallic equipment can be stored vertically for convenience or to save valuable space. This ability to create a magnetic field where ever it is needed makes these Holding Pots useful for a huge range of domestic, commercial and industrial purposes.

The most common coating for Neodymium magnets is Nickel + Copper + Nickel (Ni + Cu + Ni). This coating offers the magnet relatively good protection from corrosion and passive applications. If the magnet will be exposed to moisture or liquid then consider the use of an organic coating such as Epoxy. A hard wearing coating, Epoxy is suited to applications where the magnet will come under some friction or knocking.

Magnets are readily available in Blocks, Discs, Cylinders & Rings. AMF Magnetics specializes in the supply of short-run prototype magnets including Arc Segments, various magnetic orientations etc. If you need a magnet size that we don't carry in stock, submit a Design-a-Magnet enquiry for a quote on your custom magnet design.

Neodymium magnets are offered in several different grades. The first section N30-54 has an operating temperature of up to 80 degrees. Most of our stock only goes up to N38. The second section, denoted with the "M" prefix after the grade has an operating temperature 100 degrees. After this the grades are "H", "SH", "UH" & "EH". In order for the magnet to withstand a higher operating temperature, during production more of the raw material PrNd is incorporated as these elements have a naturally occurring resistance to high temperatures.
